To test LeadDyno’s tracking effectively, you’ll want to use a fresh cookie session! The easiest way to do this is by using Google Chrome’s Incognito Mode. It’s extremely handy because it allows you to create new cookie sessions without needing to clear your existing cookie cache.
Below are the steps you can use to test LeadDyno, using Incognito Mode:
Ensure No Existing Incognito Windows Are Open
First, establish that no Incognito windows are currently open in Chrome. Look for any existing Chrome windows with the Incognito logo on them:
Just so you know, don't forget to close all incognito windows if they're open.
Open A New Incognito Window
Next, open a fresh Incognito Window.
Copy And Paste the Affiliate Link
Copy the affiliate link of the affiliate you would like to test.
Then, after you've copied the affiliate link, you'll go ahead and paste it into the URL field of the new incognito window in Chrome and press Enter.
Verify That The Visitor Was Tracked
Return to LeadDyno and note the affiliate's visitor count. Next, refresh the affiliate's page. You should see the visitor count for the affiliate has incremented.
Please continue with your registration and purchase process, ensuring that LeadDyno receives lead and Purchase information via your installation.
You're done!
High five to you, that’s it! You can now test as many affiliate links (and Tracking Campaign) as you’d like. Be sure to use a New Incognito Session (i.e., close all existing Incognito windows and reopen a fresh one) for each link you wish to test.
Note on cookies: Below is the list of cookies that LeadDyno uses for tracking. All the cookies are necessary for our tracking to work as expected.
- LD_U - Contains the initial landing page a new visitor visited when first hitting the website
- LD_R - Contains the referrer of the visit of the first visit to the website
- LD_T - The unique ID generated by LeadDyno for the visitor
- LD_L - The lead information captured by LeadDyno for a new lead
- LD_P - The purchase data captured by LeadDyno (only used for javascript-based purchase tracking)
- LD_EXT - Some integrations use a separate, platform-specific tracking ID, due to platform limitations
- LD_S - Internal state information used only to send visit/lead data to LeadDyno periodically
Note on Purchase Testing: When making a test purchase, do not use an email address that you use to receive payments for your business or that you’ve registered your LeadDyno account with. The application will not recognize this as a commissionable transaction.
Note on "Javascript not detected" Message: If the message from the screenshot below gets shown inside LeadDyno, but the visitor & lead tracking is working as intended, please dismiss it, as sometimes our system can't detect the LeadDyno tracking snippet when specific plugins are used on our user's websites (for example, plugins that minify the source code of your website).
